The Body Finder Review
The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting is five star AMAZING! Seriously pick the book up and make it your next read because it is that good! The Body Finder is about Violet who inherited a gift that leads her to find dead things that are not at rest and see imprints on those who have killed before. When she was young it was small things like birds or other small wildlife, but at eight she found a dead girl.
The story takes place when Violet is sixteen and starts to have feeling for her childhood best friend Jay Heaton at the same time girls start disappearing from town. Jay is so sweet and seems oblivious to the fact that all the girls in school including Violet now see him in a much different way. Violet is to afraid to tell Jay how she feels and hopes that she can get past it and just be his friend. From chapter one I was screaming “JUST KISS HIM ALREADY!” talk about tension!
Violet has avoided using her gift for most of her life, but once the missing girls are showing up dead with no leads on who the killer is she realizes she could help. Jay of course thinks it’s a bad idea, but decides to help her. Seeking out a killer that targets young girls can potential make Violet his next target if she isn’t careful.
The Body Finder breaks the stereo types that Young Adult books never have good parental figures and that the love interest has to be a tortured guy with issues. Violet not only has two involved parents but also a caring aunt and uncle who keep a close eye on her. Jay her potential love interest is a good kid and so swoon worthy!
The Body Finder is Kimberly’s first book. Desire of the Dead is the title of her second which will be released in 2011. Kimberly will be part of the HarperTeen's Supernatural Summer Tour with Aprilynne Pike, Kelley Armstrong, Kim Harrison, and Ellen Schreiber. In the fall she will also take part in the Smart Chicks Kick Tour.
