Review: Kiss of Death

Kiss of Death by Rachel Caine

Rating: 3 of 5 Stars

First I want to point out that Morganville is one of my favorite series. I love Claire, Shane, Michael, Eve and even the crazy vampires but Kiss of Death was my least favorite book in the series. I’m not sure if it was the timing of when I read this book or was it because I was reading other books but it really took me a really long time to finish it.

In Kiss of Death Michael, Claire, Shane, Eve, and Oliver their vampire escort head to Dallas so Michael can record his music. This should be a fun and easy trip to Dallas but they keep hitting deadly road blocks and instead felt like the road trip from hell or the road trip to hell. Oliver has business to take care of in a small town and instructs the group to stay out of trouble but Claire and crew seem to draw trouble like no one else can. After running into fugitives from Morganville Claire, Eve, and Shane get taken hostage and it’s up to Michael and Oliver to save them…in daylight. They are taken to a town that is crawling with vamps which shouldn’t be possible since all vampires live in Morganville right? With being kidnapped, attacked by strange vampires, and knowing they have to return to Morganville it starts to looks like Michael will never get a shot at recording.

I still can’t pinpoint exactly why I didn’t devour this book like all the others but I can say that I missed Morganville. There is something about being away from The Glass House, Amelie, and Myrnin that just didn’t feel right. I am still really looking forward to reading Ghost Town, the next book in the series and of course Bite Club which will be released May 3, 2011.

  1. I think I enjoyed the change of scenery on this one but I did miss Myrnin a lot too, he's one of my favorite characters. Great honest review. =)
