Poetry: Choke by Megan Bostic

Choke is a poem by author Megan Bostic who will release her first book titled Never Eighteen in January 2012.  For more of her writing you can visit her blog: http://meganbostic.blogspot.com/

Choking back

words unwanted

regret, a jagged pill.

I’m silenced

though your deafening torrent

Still resonates in my ears.

An echo of madness

a castigation of lies

the endless labyrinth of fault.

Sliced open

naked, exposed

a frozen, aching soul.

Wearing blinders

Eluding truth

Coerce yourself to believe.

Fury subsides

As it will in time

But time is also brutal.

The acid tongue,

The beastly rage,

The affection only ephemeral.
